In addition waste producers need to sign a waste transfer notice, saying what the waste is and how it is stored.Ĭontact your local police firearms licensing authority who can collect live or misfired cartridges and dispose of them. It is the responsibility of the waste producer to check that their chosen recycling organisation is registered. There are a few companies who offer this service, for which there is a charge including Agricycle and Solway Recycling Ltd For further information contact them directly. You can also give it to a registered waste carrier. The easiest way to do this is by entering into a contract with the local authority to take the waste away. That means contacting a company authorised to dispose of it properly.
Duty of care also means that the waste must be properly disposed of. For example safe storage of spent cartridges might be in large bins or a skip. If you break the duty you are liable to an unlimited fine.ĭuty of care means that you have to take all reasonable steps to keep the waste safe.

When I sold my 30.06 there was a few rounds that I didn't let go with the rifle because I wasn't so confident in them,so I took them to the Oakland PD. His exact words was " The boys and I are going to have a great time disposing of this" When I first moved up here I had a can of black powder that was in with my stuff.(someone else packed that box) I took it to the wayne PD and the officer was thrilled in getting it. I could be wrong but I think they are required to take it no matter what.
